Girls Getaway

4 laughing and relaxed, greatful to be on vacation women
car full of luggage, snacks and games
driving through some nasty thunderstorms

We've been waiting for this vacation for an entire year and it's finally here.

We left Murray about 6:45 this morning and the only thing we forgot (I forgot) was a waffle iron.  Hey, I almost forgot to give my cats more water.  Wouldn't THAT have been awful!  We started with the trip with me driving and a few ground rules:
    (1)  Driver doesn't make all the decisions.
    (2)  Anyone in the front seats had control over the air and radio.
    (3)  Everyone was required to speak up if they got cold, hot, wanted to stop, etc.  No wallflowers please!
Everyone agreed so we were on our way.

We stopped in Cadiz for breakfast at McDonald's #1.  That's when Stacy made her #1 rule - no eating at McDonald's on the trip other than breakfast.  Ok.  No problems agreeing on that one.  Sorry Jeremy.

Went down the road quite a while and made a bathroom stop at .... McDonald's #2.  Kathy did get a drink but we did NOT eat there.

Stopped for gas and lunch at .... McDonald's #3!  Well really, we chose Subway but the stop had both in the same building and we had to walk thru McDonald's to get to Subway.  We did eat in McDonald's seating though.

We made really good time with about 5 stops.  We started getting excited when we saw Spanish Moss hanging from the trees near Savannah and some of the older houses.  It was hard for me to drive and look at the same time.  I'll get to see plenty this week though.

Sorry we don't have pics today. With the weather, it wasn't the best day for pictures.
But we counted 33 signs on I-24 leading up to Ruby Falls - even counting them in blinding rain. We laughed quite a bit and caught up with each other's lives.

We're staying in a condo on the Atlantic Ocean on Tybee Island.  Thanks Aunt Linda and Uncle Bob.  They had a timeshare we could use and we got at a REALLY good price for the week.  More to spend on fun stuff this week.  It's about 9:15 at night here and have the balcony door open listening to the ocean.  How great is that?  A beach, southern charm, old houses, ghosts, cemeteries, and Paula Deen - all in one vacation!!!!!!!

After we got settled into the condo, we went to the grocery to get some breakfast items and a few other things.  We walked to Sting Rays restaurant and ate supper outside while listening to live music and about ten 10-year olds having fun.  Mandy ate your shrimp, Susan!  I had the crab cakes, Stacy a fish po-boy sandwich, and Kathy had flounder.

Well, more tomorrow night.  We're not sure what we're doing tomorrow because we're supposed to have more thunderstorms but the rest of the week should be really nice.  We have plenty of games and snacks though.  Who knows.....

  2. First of all, "Kathy had flounder." Shocker!! :) But I bet it was good! And Mandy, thank you for eating the shrimp for me! It was so good to hear you all laughing on the phone Saturday. Thank you for calling me -- it meant a lot to me. Have thought of you all so much since you left and am hoping you're having a complete blast. How are Kathy's shoes holding up? Is Stacy showing toe cleavage? Tracy, did you rent one of those neat little cars? And Mandy, dip a toe or more into the ocean for me, okay? Look for some shells, too. Can't wait to see pictures!! Miss you!!
